The Sunshine Coast Marine Rescue Society
The Sunshine Coast Marine Rescue Society (SCMRS) is the fundraising and financial support organization behind Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCMSAR) Station 12 — Halfmoon Bay.
Saving Lives on the Water
Society & Purpose
Established as a BC non-profit society under the Societies Act, SCMRS supports Station 12’s mission of saving lives on the water by funding core readiness needs— including response vessels (purchase, fit-out, maintenance and moorage), member PPE, facilities/ready-room space, and ongoing training. SCMRS also helps promote the profile and mission of the Society, Station 12 and RCMSAR, while building local awareness of marine search and rescue and safe boating across our communities.
What We Do
SCMRS helps keep Station 12 mission-ready through practical, behind-the-scenes support. Our work includes fundraising, donor management and recognition, financial stewardship (asset/fund management), risk management(including insurance), and the disbursement of funds to cover approved station expenses. This work ensures the station can maintain readiness and support local safety efforts across the marine community.
Board Members
& Donations
SCMRS is actively seeking support volunteers and board members—the people who help secure grants, manage finances, and organize fundraising so our vessels and equipment stay ready. Meetings are typically monthly, with extra coordination around events and grant cycles. Donations also play a vital role in sustaining this service; please consider supporting Station 12 through a gift to SCMRS, a charitable organization registered with the CRA.
